The idea of starting African Immigrants Dream Inc. came out of the stories and struggles shared by African immigrants and the impact their lack of knowledge of community resources had on their health, career, finances, and dreams.
African Immigrants Dream Inc. is a nonprofit immigrant organization in Maryland that supports and empowers low-income families, targeting African immigrants to pursue their dreams in the United States and abroad.
African Immigrants Dream Inc. was founded in 2023 after the COVID-19 pandemic. My church had expanded its food services to Columbia and the surrounding communities in Maryland during the pandemic. However, our volunteer team noticed non-participation from our African communities. Our team reached out to the African community and our findings revealed their lack of knowledge of resources available in their communities for food services, healthcare, social services, housing, and career advancement , the fear of seeking help, and its impact on their lives.
